Cameras in the Smiling Sun has supported since three years several Ugandans in developing their photographical skills and in that way relieve themselves from poverty by learning to make money from photography.

 Andrew Kartende has been the most successful photographer so far from this group. Last year he won already a big international price in Germany.  Now he has won again in two categories in this years’ Annual National Uganda Press Photography Awards. He won the Young photographer award for 2017 and he became second runner up in the portrait category with this picture.
